The new generation of design. Who will win the Compasso d'Oro?

On June 20, 2018 the award ceremony of the Compasso d'Oro ADI will take place at the Castello Sforzesco in Milan. The Compasso d'Oro is one of the most important and oldest industrial design awards in the world. Established in 1954, the goal is to enhance and reward the quality of Italian design. The criteria to receive this prize range from the quality of the materials used to the environmental and social impact of the creations, from technological innovation to creativity and functionality of the objects.

The award is given every two years to both designers and producers involved in different fields such as furniture, graphics or car design. The bond that unites all these productions is the essence of Italian design, famous and recognized globally. Of the 283 products selected only 16 will be awarded by an international jury of the most prestigious Italian design award. Some of the objects selected and competing for the award are FAVO, a wall-system characterized by a structure in metal rods that recalls the geometric lines of the hive. Design Daniele Della Porta for Lamberti Design.

Diphy Lamp by Linea Light Group which uses Optilight Technology based on the distribution of the light flow through a particular texture on the surface. When the light is off, the lamp will be transparent, while when the light is on, the texture will radiate the light optimally throughout the surrounding space. Libreria CaosThe Caos bookcase, a real circular steel sculpture that harmoniously alternates straight lines and curves and is composed of a central round body with at the base two simple support elements. The structure is in sheet steel, the back in fabric. The placement of the books will never have been so original and innovative.

These are just some of the projects in the race waiting to discover who will be the 16 winners on June 19th at the Castello Sforzesco in Milan. An unmissable event for all design lovers
